UPDATED 5-25-99 The U.S. Government now has a new search engine that is supposed to be very powerful. I have not used it but you are supposed to be able to retrieve many government documents from this site. Go to the Links page to link to this site.
Please discount the words that have appeared here the last few days about the page closing down. We will see how it goes. Thanks again for all of you generous remarks.!
Neither journalism nor photograpy ever did a whole lot for me so expect the pictures to be of poor quality and the subject material to be badly chosen.
I will probably cheat on this! If the weather is good or I am just in the mood, I will possibly take several pictures and then try to pass them off to you as being taken that day! Click here for the Unofficial Macon Picture of the Day.
It works like this. You sign up for the service and you are issued your own fax number. The person or business wanting to send you a fax then dials your fax number and sends the fax. The fax actually goes to eFax's server. From there it is sent to you via your regular email. eFax will provide you with a viewer that will enable you to view, print, edit, etc. your fax. The best part is that it is FREE! How can this be free you ask. It is done through advertising. When you recieve your fax there will be some advertisments sent with it. It DOES cost the person that sends the fax however. The fax number that you are issued uses a 707 area code and as such would be a toll call. California??
By now you are probably clamoring, how do I sign up for this wonderous service!! Simply click on the eFax link and it will take you to the eFax home page. eFax
Signing up for the service was fairly straightforward. Just go to the Mercantile Bank link above. Downloading the 128 bit encryption to make my browser secure was something of a challenge, but "Pat" at Mercantile (385-6481) can help you if you have any trouble. A bonus for all of you Quicken and Microsoft Money users is that it appears that you will be able to download your statement right into your program, saving you much typing. I ***THINK***that it works like that. I have not really checked it out.****UPDATE**** I checked into the download feature and here is what the Online Banking help file had to say.
"How to download into Quicken
If you use Quicken personal financial software, you can download transactions from Online Banking to your PC. You can then import the transactions from the file on your PC into the appropriate Quicken account, eliminating the need to type these transactions into Quicken manually. "
This last paragraph was taken directly from the help file. It should be accurate.
I am not a Mercantile employee or stockholder, but I think that all of this is a great service!! And FREE too!!!!

Click here for Windows Media Player
I don't *think* that the Windows Media Player will work with Windows 3.1 as an operating system. I think that it takes Windows 95,98 or NT. I do *think* that Real Player will work with Windows 3.1.
